Pay Later
Monthly Billing
“Just put it on my tab”
Is an age-old retail practice now digitized by Tabby.
“Tabby Pay Later” (Monthly Billing) is a payment method that allows customers to unite their small regular payments into a single bill and payable on the 28th day of the month.
It creates a great experience, improving conversion rates and enabling a higher return customer rate to the merchants. "Tabby Pay Later" works well for low-risk purchase categories such as groceries, taxis, delivery services, and more.
(No interest. No fees.) Customers don’t pay any additional charges as long as they make timely payments.
The monthly bill aligns with most customers' payday, falling on the 28th of the month.
"Tabby Pay Later" offers a seamless sign-up process, avoiding lengthy credit card applications and verification processes.
After the first sign-up, customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience with saved payment details. Each payment is automatically added to the monthly bill when the customer selects Tabby at the merchant’s checkout.
Customers can track their expenses in real-time through the Tabby app, enabling effective budgeting before payday.
With "Tabby Pay Later," customers never have to pay upfront, ensuring hassle-free refund processes.
Tabby Pay Later's billing cycle runs from the 25th of one month to the 24th of the next month, with the total bill due on the 28th of each month.
Important Note: The billing cycle is calculated based on the UTC time zone. Thus, if a customer flagged that he placed an order on the 25th but it was added to the old billing cycle (24th), we will explain that since our system follows the UTC time zone, the order was added to the old billing cycle.
For future reference, we suggest that KSA customers place orders after 3 AM and UAE customers after 4 AM to be included in next month's statement.
Here’s a summary of important dates:
Billing Period: The billing period is from the 25th of the current month to the 24th of the next month. All purchases made during this period are consolidated into a single bill.
Bill Closing Date: on the 25th of each month, we dispatch the bill to the customer the bill. This statement comprehensively outlines the items purchased and the corresponding payment amount.
Payment Due Date: The bill is due for payment on the 28th of the month.
For example: If the customer made a purchase on the 26th of August, that purchase would typically be part of their Tabby Pay Later billing for the period from August 25th to September 24th. So, any purchases they make during that timeframe are included in their bill, which is generated on the 25th of September and due on the 28th of September.
1. The customer selects “Tabby Pay Later” at the merchant’s checkout or in the merchant’s website/app account settings.
2. Customers sign up using their personal email and mobile number during the registration process.
They will also need to attach their ID and link their bank card, entailing a cost of AED/SAR 1.00, but this amount will be refunded immediately.
During registration flow in KSA, customers undergo a verification process through the Nafath App:
Download and open the Nafath app, register as a new user, and follow the steps (if not already completed).
Within the Nafath app, tap “Accept” and choose the same number as displayed in the Tabby app to finalize the verification process.
Note: The customer should make a note of the number displayed on the Tabby screen to select it within the Nafath app.
After successful Nafath verification, the Tabby screen will be changed automatically, and customers will receive an automated phone call to verify the phone number.
3. Customers receive their monthly spending limit which they can use during the monthly billing cycle, which runs from the 25th of the current month to the 24th of the next month.
4. Customers use "Tabby Pay Later" to make purchases and can track their spending on the Tabby app.
5. After making a series of purchases, the customer will receive their monthly bill on the 25th of the month, and the payment will be due on the 28th.
6. Customers have the flexibility to settle their "Tabby Pay later" Payments using any card available on the Tabby app or through the customer portal before the 28th of the month.
If a customer has linked their Tabby account with a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, they will be automatically charged when the payment is due.
We will send reminders via "email" and "SMS" before the payment due date.
Customers can also make the payment through their Tabby account in advance manually:
1. Go to "Payments" on the Tabby app.
2. Review the upcoming “Tabby Pay Later” bill, as shown in the screenshot.
3. Choose to pay.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the payment.
Always remember: That the limit is up to 1000K and can be shared with the customer. However, keep in mind that the automated process cannot guarantee this amount every time.
Each merchant will have its limit per order/basket size.
For example, the merchant "ToYou" has a maximum basket size of SAR 250.00. This amount is individually agreed upon by each merchant.
Important:
The total of all orders at various merchants within a month must not exceed a customer's monthly limit.
For example, if a customer in KSA has already made several purchases at Merchant "A" of SAR 600.00 and several purchases at Merchant "B" of SAR 400.00
SAR 600.00 + 400.00 = SAR 1,000.00
This means that the customer has already reached their “Tabby Pay Later” limit for the month. If they want to make additional purchases using this payment method during the same month, they will need to make a repayment for the current bill.
In this case, the canceled order will be promptly removed from the customer’s bill. If all orders within the billing cycle are canceled, the entire bill will be canceled as well.
If a customer doesn't pay the due bill on time, the following actions will be taken:
Customers will receive regular reminders via email, push notifications, and SMS before any due payments, ensuring they are well-informed and can avoid any instances of late payments. If Tabby is unable to collect payments on the scheduled day, the customer will no longer be able to make purchases with Tabby until the outstanding dues are paid.
